Some homes are transformed over months. Others are shaped over years.
This Devonport project was delivered in multiple stages, with Coast & Country Homes partnering with the homeowners over an extended period to completely reimagine the property from the ground up.
The journey began with a substantial basement excavation and addition beneath the existing home, creating valuable new living space while carefully working within the constraints of an established residential site.
Four years later, the team returned to undertake the next chapter. A comprehensive renovation and recladding of the upper level that saw much of the existing structure rebuilt, reroofed and modernised while preserving the home's place within the streetscape.
The project concluded with extensive hard landscaping works, bringing together the home, outdoor living areas and surrounding grounds into one cohesive finished result.
The first stage centred on excavating beneath the existing home and constructing a substantial new basement addition.
Several years later, Coast & Country Homes returned to complete a major transformation of the upper level, including: Full recladding of the home. Extensive upper-level reconstruction. New double-glazed joinery throughout. Complete reroofing works. Interior renovation and modernisation. Structural upgrades and improvements
The final stage focused on the outdoor environment, including: New decks and outdoor living areas. Fencing and boundary works. Hard landscaping. Site finishing and integration The result is a home that feels entirely cohesive, despite being delivered across multiple construction phases.
Today, 28 St Leonards Road is a testament to what can be achieved through thoughtful planning and a long-term approach to renovation.
What began as an existing Devonport home evolved into a substantially rebuilt residence, combining increased functionality, improved performance and contemporary living with the character and presence expected in one of Auckland's most sought-after coastal suburbs.
